Project 11

....is complete

Take a great big bow and pat yourselves on the back everybody !!!

For those that don’t know “Project 11’ has been a dream for many years and to see it finally completed and looking so spectacular is a dream come true for many people.

The years of planning and fund raising have paid off !!

It could not have been completed without the help and support from all of our volunteers ... A HUGE Thank You to everyone that made this dream possible...words are not enough...Thank You !!!!

OVERVIEW

The irrigation line was completed on January 21st and the final layers of sand laid.

When that was completed the final contours of the green and fairway were started.

If anyone ever requires the services of a digger and truck Andrew Younger is a blessing in disguise - a big thank you for your support and for keeping Rob out of Gloria’s hair !!

All images can be ‘clicked’ and you will be taken to a larger version

Not only did the 11th change from a Par 4 to a 5 but it changes the 12th as well.

There are now more tees in place stretching the playing area back to the sea - you almost feel like you are walking on water !!

With the addition of two new bunkers on the left and three on the right - the 12th now becomes a Par 4 for the men and eventually for the women, when work is completed.

Bring your fishing rod - there have been some pretty big fish caught from these rocks.

Construction underway on new tees for the 12th

On Tuesday 7th March 2011 The green was seeded using corings from some of the other greens.

29th March 2011

How’s this for club spirit - the Vets gave up their spare time to collect all the loose stones on the new fairway...we hear there was the odd boulder or two that they dealt too as well.

September 13th 2011  -  Working Bee to remove the old 11th Green.

Thank You
Hole designed by Kristine Kerr from Kura Golf Course Design.
Thanks very much - we played Friday afternoon 23rd September 2011 and had a great time – both played quite well

The number 11 hole is simply awesome – we must have taken about 50 pictures on it….in my opinion it is the best golf hole in New Zealand…whilst Kauri Cliffs has beautiful sea views the fact that the green is right on the waters edge makes it so special - it is difficult to find words to describe what a beautiful hole it is now

The club and the designer must be applauded for this

Best wishes

Michael Versfeld

Come and have a look !!!

All intending players must register in the Pro Shop before going to the tee, groups must keep up with the group in front.

If you find that you are holding up the players behind you, then call them through. Bunkers must be raked after use.

Tidy dress is required at all times, on the course and in the club house.
