First off: Congratulations to Rosemary Wilderspin who is the 2020 Women’s

9-Hole Strokeplay Champion!!!

This weekend we are holding the Men’s James Busby Matchplay Championship.

A field of 64 players will start at 7.30am tomorrow and Sunday morning to compete in this prestigious Championship which is in its 43rd year. Top Gun Kadin Neho is back to defend his title having won the Championship for the last 3 years! The top division has 12 players who are on handicaps of 1 and below, which means there should be some great golf this weekend.

Normal Sunday competitions will resume next Sunday 11th.

Next week, we will be hosting the Par NZ 4 Course Tournament. Play will be on Monday, Tuesday and Friday; however, the course will be available to club members and visitors from 1pm on Monday and Friday, and 12pm on Tuesday. Please book online or through the Pro Shop. The normal “Friday Club Haggle” will be run on Thursday.

Junior Fun Session: Tuesday 29 September 2020

What a great day! Games of skill, sausage sizzle and ice blocks what more could a kid ask for!! Thanks to Bronson for organising the event and to his team of parents who helped. As a result, 15 children have been added to the junior group who Bronson, Craig, Duncan, and other parents take out on a Friday afternoon.

What has happened since the last Update?

Wayne Jump is the Men’s Senior Matchplay Club Champ and Grant Bartlett is the Men’s D-Grade Matchplay Club Champ!

Congratulations!!

The Women have completed their Strokeplay Club Champs.

Congratulations to:

Lorraine Stokes (Silver), Iris Bartlett (Bronze 1), Merle Mounsey (Senior), and Pam Martin (Bronze 2).

Lorraine is also the Bronze 1 Matchplay Club Champ. (A double Champ!)

This Sunday the Men will be completing the 2nd and 3rd rounds of their Strokeplay Club Champs.

I begin the update with some sad news.

It is with deep regret that I advise the passing of Gary Hawke.

Gary has been associated with club for a number of years as both a member and supporter to his wife Diane and son Jack who are also members.

Our heartfelt condolences go out to Diane and family.

 GOLF:

The Spring Mixed Open held on Saturday attracted a field of 35 players.

While the field was small, there were some good results and our visiting players appreciated the opportunity to play at our course.

The cupcakes were delicious and the tutus, although few were brave enough to wear them, were very colourful.

The ladies donated $240.00 to Daffodil Day fundraiser.

For some reason some members have been playing a rule that is “if your ball hits the pin and bounces out, it counts as being in the hole” This is incorrect, if your ball hits the pin and doesn’t go in, the hole, have another putt, unless your playing partner/opponent, let’s you have a “gimmie”.
