Golf Update

Ladies tournament: Thursday 17 April.

What a great day, 22 teams of 4 and everyone smiling!! The sunshine certainly helped, and the ship in the bay was a bonus.

Team scoring was the format of the day with the Best 1 stableford being counted on a par 3, the Best 2 stablefords on a Par 4 and the Best 3 stabledfords on a par 5. Seemingly simple but obviously not by the state of the returned team cards. So a little bit of rechecking kept the committee busy.

Winning Teams were:

Land Cruises (Ngunguru) 101 points

Kaikohe 1              98 points

Kaikohe 2              97 points

Rawene                 92 points

Waitangi 1             89 points

Kaikohe                 88 points

Waitangi 2             88 points

Waitangi 3             87 points

Kaikohe 4              86 points (Countback).

Nearest the Pin at No. 10 : Di Russell (Kerikeri)

Nearest the Pin at No. 16: Maureen Braidford (Kerikeri)

Accuracy Drive No. 3: Glenys McEvoy (Northern Wairoa)

Longest Drive: Aroha Tito (Kaikohe)

The 9-Holers also bade farewell to Cherry Lawrie who is retiring from playing due to some health issues. At the ripe age of 87, we thought she had done quite well. Cherry was always prepared to help any new "9-holer" to learn the game, and over her many years of membership she has given a large number of her pieces of art to the club to used as prizes in club tournaments. Cherry said that even though she can't play anymore, she will pop over to "caddie" for Maria when she can.
